September is the AKC Anniversary as well as Responsible Dog Ownership Month. Your participation in one of these events in your community with a club is appreciated, helping to educate and encourage new people to be responsible dog owners is a great community service. You may also share how young people can participate in all AKC Events perhaps incenting new families in your area to consider participation.
Are you a member of a Club? Are you a member of a 4H Group? Joining an AKC Club will give you the opportunity to learn how AKC Events are held. Perhaps you would volunteer to assist with different responsibilities the day of the event such as stewarding, hospitality, set up and tear down providing you in depth knowledge of all aspects of an event. Clubs and 4H can help each other, club members may provide mentoring and assistance to the 4H members and the 4H Group may assist the club the day of the show and are potential new members of a club along with their families. If you are involved in a club and 4H, please contact
juniors@akc.org as we are looking for examples to share with other clubs of how this relationship can work.
